David Sun Appointed Chair of the Newly Created BEC TC 129

The BEC is pleased to announce the creation of a new Committee BEC TC 129: "Robotics for electricity generation, transmission and distribution systems”. M. David Sun, PhD, MBA has been recently endorsed by the SMB-BE, the BEC governance organ, as chair of this new TC.

As a Senior Technical Manager and Think Tank Expert at SGS Group, M. David Sun has 16 years of professional experience in robotics standardization and electrical industry testing and certification. Fluent in English and French, he has actively participated in IEC, ISO, EN, ASTM and UL committees to develop robot safety and performance standards. His team has investigated and recognized the great value of robotics applications in the power sector. M. David Sun is keen to bring their rich experience in robotics testing and standardization from consumer and commercial fields to the energy industry.

M. David Sun expertise matches TC 129’s mission perfectly, including power system robotics standardization, electrical safety assessment, AI-integrated robotics and energy system optimization. He has participated in relevant R&D programs, published papers and contributed to core robotics safety and performance standards, all of which support grid robotics development.

He is willing to provide his professional capabilities to BEC and IEC TC 129 for developing relevant international standards.
