From Edinburgh to Global Impact: Dries De Kegel’s IEC YP Experience

28.11.2024

Dries, Staff Engineer at CommScope, had the opportunity to take part in the IEC Young Professionals Program in Edinburgh. Here’s what he shared on LinkedIn about his experience.

"What an intense experience!

Last week, I had the opportunity to follow the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Young Professionals Program in Edinburgh. I interacted with IEC's experts, IEC's leadership and young professionals across the globe. It is very inspiring to work and build relationships with young ambitious professionals from a mix of cultures.

Always good to connect and interact with fellow Belgians, Dimitri Dewil and Jo Cops, IEC President. Inspiring to see how fellow Belgians weigh and lead on the international stage.

Vimal Mahendru, I would like to thank you for the engaging welcome during the SMB meeting.
During the IEC YP program, I got the opportunity to work on the IEC Global Impact Fund, a key initiative to unlock benefits of electrical safety and create a better future in underserved communities.

Matthew Doherty, Ray Gorman I am grateful to be introduced to the IEC GIF and getting the change to propose new strategic initiatives to validate and scale-up the project.

While attending the 88th IEC General Assembly, we were honored by the visit of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal. As a father of two daughters, it was great to hear the support for WISE, Women into Science and Engineering.

Aristea Kyriakati and team, thanks for guiding us through the full week and valuable training. Thanks, Ian Gardner, for the engaging 'Standard in a day' bootcamp!

BSI, my sincere thanks for the excellent organization and support during the intense week.

Thanks for Belgian Electrotechnical Committee, especially Dirk De Moor to bring the opportunity of the IEC YP to my attention."
