New Chairmen Across BEC Committees

24.09.2024

Several technical committees have new chairmen, with Dimitri Dewil, Constant Kohler, Nico Roose, and Xavier Loozen. These changes affect committees overseeing rotating machinery, industrial-process automation, optical radiation safety, and environmental testing methods.

Dimitri Dewil Appointed New Chair of BEC TC 2: Rotating Machinery

Professor Ronny Belmans has stepped down as chair of BEC TC 2, and Dimitri Dewil has been elected to succeed him. Mr. Dewil holds a master's degree in electromechanical engineering from the University of Ghent and has spent the past eight years at Atlas Copco Airpower NV, where he has worked as both a project engineer and technology engineer. He has also been an active member of BEC TC 2 for several years.

Constant Kohler Takes Over as Chair of BEC TC 65: Industrial-Process Measurement, Control and Automation

Following François-Xavier Henneau’s departure as chair of BEC TC 65, Constant Kohler has been elected as the new chair. Mr. Kohler holds master's degrees in IP/IT law as well as economics and public affairs from the University of Strasbourg. He has served as head of the “industry and technology” unit at CEN/CENELEC and is currently the manager responsible for cybersecurity governance at the Siemens EU Affairs Office.

New chairmen

Nico Roose Elected Chair of BEC TC 76: Optical Radiation Safety and Laser Equipment

After Dora Deboeure’s departure, Nico Roose, from Barco, was elected as the new chair of BEC TC 76. Mr. Roose has a bachelor’s degree in electronics from VHTI Kortrijk and has been a product validation engineer at Barco NV since 1996. He also represents the BEC in IEC TC 76 and IEC TC 108.

Xavier Loozen Named Chair of BEC TC 104: Environmental Conditions, Classification and Methods of Test

BEC has reactivated the BEC TC 104, focusing on "Environmental conditions, classification, and methods of testing," with the goal of representing Belgian test laboratories. They have requested P-status from the IEC 104. Xavier Loozen, product manager at ANPI (Association Nationale pour la Prévention contre l’Incendie et l’intrusion), has been elected as the chair of this technical committee. Mr. Loozen holds a master’s degree in physics engineering and a PhD in physics, with extensive experience in both research organizations and teaching.
