Peer Assessment 2025 passed!

The BEC passed the Peer assessment on 27-28/08/2025 by Marcel Knecht from SNV.

The peer assessment is a worthy reflection on current practices and a moment to critically review the procedures and the website.

Good practices were identified including:

1. Transparency: Internal regulations & statutes on the website

2. One sales portal by use of the NBN web shop

3. CENELEC + IEC secretariats mentioned on the website

4. Meeting reports are detailed and of good quality

5. Neutrality of interests, impartiality and independence of the Member’s governance

6. Training on patent policy & IPR

7. Stable financial situation allows to lower the membership fees

8. CEN & CLC members working together in Belgium

9. Cyber security: infrastructure and employee training

Peer assessment

Suggestions for improvement include:

1. Web shop: withdrawal date to be filled out

2. Web shop: indicate link to legislation

3. Monitor statistics on national adoptions: either adoption or reporting

4. Add stakeholder category in the board composition in the annual report

5. Elaborate written procedure for the withdrawal of national standards when EN standards are published + add question in national NWIP ballot
