Ms. Beatriz DE LA FUENTE

Beatriz de la Fuente is a civil engineer in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from École polytechnique de Bruxelles and holds a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, completed within the Moonshot Initiative funded by VLAIO. Her doctoral research built a strong foundation in semiconductors, focusing on photo-catalytic materials for carbon capture and advanced energy applications. In 2024, she was awarded a fellowship from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) for a research stay at Stanford University, where she specialized in advanced surface characterization of solar energy materials. She holds industrial experience at Toyota Motor Europe where she worked as Materials Engineer and in certification laboratories such as INESCOP.

Today, as Technical Officer at the Belgian Electrotechnical Committee (BEC), she serves as Secretary to several Technical Committees, including those on semiconductors. She works directly on major European regulatory frameworks such as the Cyber Resilience Act, Low Voltage Directive, Radio Equipment Directive, and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, contributing to the drafting and coordination of harmonized standards aligned with EU legislation and industrial competitiveness.

Through her collaboration with CENELEC, she also promotes the integration of standardization into universities, bridging technical expertise with policy, industry, and the next generation of engineers.
