Smart standards
Due to digitalization, the product development process (CAD, CAM, FEM, …) and the conformity assessment have been highly automated. The standards delivery process has moved forward from paper copies to digitally delivered pdf documents. What further developments are necessary to foster a seamless integration of the standards knowledge into the user's processes. Smart encompasses the essential components (formats, processes, and tools) required to make standards more accessible and effective.
Smart standards are already enhancing the user experience by resolving links and improving the navigation through the standard. But there could be more advantages like replacing manual look-up by a more automated interaction, but automatically generating test procedures, threshold values and assessment reports.
